Great Valley Middle School Parent Teacher Organization

Dear Middle School Families,

Welcome to a new school year at Great Valley Middle School. We encourage your involvement in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

Our purpose as the PTO is to promote open communication and involvement among parents/guardians, teachers and administrators. Our Executive Board is committed to these goals and will work with parents and staff to make GVMS the best possible place for our students to learn and grow. To this end, our goals for 2009-2010 are:

1. To keep GVMS families informed about district and school programs, plans and current activities;

2. To communicate parental input to policy, curriculum, programs and activities to school administrators’

3. To provide avenues for questions and clarifications of items of specific interest and/or concern to GVMS parents

4. To promote school spirit

5. To maintain a positive, constructive attitude and insure activities mirror the needs and foster the goals of the entire GVMS community.

In order to facilitate these goals the PTO holds seven meetings to plan events and dialog with the school staff (each meeting is attended by Mr. Souders or another GVMS administrator). Valuable information is shared and questions are addressed. Please take advantage of these opportunities to be connected and stay informed. The PTO executive board also organizes a number of committees that serve the staff and students of GVMS. We welcome the participation of all parents/guardians of GVMS students. The contribution of your time and talents enhances the educational experience of our Middle school students.

In addition to our meetings and committees, we use the GVMS website to disseminate information to the parent community.  Please contact me for clarification of PTO website information or if you have something you wish to post.

Our children benefit from the mutual effort coordinated by the PTO. Together we can make this an exceptional year. Feel free to call any of our Executive Board members and committee chairpersons with your questions, concerns, and offers to help during the year.
